PABSEC General Assembly adopts declaration with amendment from Ukraine

The General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization of Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) has adopted a declaration on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of PABSEC, the press service of the Verkhovna Rada has reported.

An amendment submitted by the Ukrainian delegation was taken into account during the vote for declaration 

The head of the Ukrainian delegation, Vice President of PABSEC Liudmyla Denisova, congratulated the meeting participants on the victory. "Congratulations on victory! Our efforts to restore territorial integrity have been supported by most national delegations of PABSEC," she said.

In particular, the document says that conflicts in the Black Sea region should be settled on the basis of full respect for the territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty of the BSEC member states.

"We declare that it is necessary to promote the restoration of the territorial integrity of the BSEC states recognized by international organizations such as the UN, OSCE, PACE and the EP as illegally annexed," the amendment of the Ukrainian delegation to the declaration reads.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization of Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) was established on February 26, 1993. It consists of 12 countries, in particular, Albania, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Armenia, Greece, Georgia, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, and Ukraine.

On July 6, 2017, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine took over chairmanship of PABSEC for a period of six months.
