Canadian MP urges to provide Ukraine with visa-free regime

She said this during a speech in the Canadian Parliament, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"A visa-free regime will facilitate trade between our peoples and will increase opportunities for supporting democratic reforms in Ukraine," Duncan said.

She drew attention to unacceptably high number of refusals to grant Canadian visas to Ukrainians.

"Since May of this year, the European Union has granted Ukrainians visa-free access to the EU, but Canada continues to reject a large number of visa requests of Ukrainians. The reasons for such high level of refusals are not clear, given that the Government praises its trade agreement with Ukraine," the MP stressed.

Duncan urged the Canadian Government to "immediately take measures to introduce a visa-free regime with Ukraine."
