Canada is "optimistic" about possible deployment of a UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas.

Canadian Defense Minister Harjit Sajjan stated this at a meeting with the Ukrainian community, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We share cautious optimism about a potential peacekeeping mission in Ukraine if Ukraine will have an influence on it that is sufficient to meet its needs," Sajjan said.

As reported, in September, after a meeting with the President of Ukraine in Toronto, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that "there is definitely a great potential for peacekeepers in the Ukrainian issue."
