President Poroshenko, Head of Australian Senate discuss progress of investigation into MH17 crash

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has met with President of the Senate of the Parliament of Australia Stephen Parry.

This is reported by the press service of the Head of State.

"The parties noted the efficiency of the joint investigation team for the MH17 tragedy and emphasized the inevitability of punishment for all those involved in this tragedy,” the statement reads.

Poroshenko also noted Australia’s unwavering support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and condemnation of the Russian aggression against Ukraine. In this context, the President of Ukraine thanked Australia for the continuation of sanctions against the aggressor and support in the issues related to the human rights protection in the occupied Crimea.

Particular attention was paid to the strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two states. In this regard, the President of Ukraine praised the formation of a renewed Australia-Ukraine friendship group in the Australian Parliament.

The parties also discussed preparations for the next Invictus Games, which will take place in 2018 in Sydney, Australia.
