Turchynov: Anti-Russian sanctions a step towards Putin's complete isolation

The regimes of Russia and North Korea are becoming more similar to each other, and the world is beginning to understand that, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov has said.

He commented on the introduction of new sanctions imposed by the United States against Russia, the council's press service reported on Thursday.

Turchynov said that at the same time, sanctions imposed by Washington were another important step towards the complete isolation of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his totalitarian country.

In his opinion, sanctions against Russia, enacted by the law signed by U.S. President Donald Trump, are an extremely important decision.

"It is noteworthy that in the law, which introduced the sanctions and which was passed by the Congress, supported by the Senate and approved by U.S. President Trump, Russia comes together with North Korea," Turchynov said.

According to him, it shows that the world is beginning to realize that the regimes of these countries are becoming more similar to each other - unpredictable and dangerous.

At the same time, Turchynov said that this was an important step towards the complete isolation of Putin and a totalitarian country into which he has transformed contemporary Russia. "All dictators must remember that the end is only one for them - total contempt and shame," he said.

As reported, on August 2, U.S. President Donald Trump signed H.R. 3364, the "Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act," which, among other things, foresees growing pressure on Russia and support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine
