Rada ratifies cooperation agreement with European Police Office

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has ratified the agreement on operational and strategic cooperation between Ukraine and the European Police Office.

The bill on ratification was supported by 234 Ukrainian lawmakers, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The agreement was signed on December 14, 2016 in the city of The Hague.

The ratification of the agreement will allow expanding the format of cooperation, exchanging operational information in criminal proceedings, taking part in joint events to investigate into wide range of crimes. In addition, the agreement makes it possible to establish the places of stay of persons involved in the commission of crimes, to participate in the analysis of operational information, as well as to create international joint investigation teams.

The agreement also provides for the functioning of the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine, although this body has not yet been established.
