The Trump Administration supports the continuation of sanctions against the Russian Federation.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said this in an interview with Ukrainian TV channels, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
"The new U.S. Administration takes a historic decision – the sanctions will be extended until the Minsk agreements are implemented," Petro Poroshenko said.
The President stressed that the U.S. and the EU had a unified position on sanctions against the Russian Federation, noting that the U.S. Congress supported the sanctions.
In addition, according to Poroshenko, the U.S. should play a coordinating role with regard to sanctions against Russia within the framework of the G7.
