In the course of the working trip to Odesa region, President Petro Poroshenko signed a decree on additional measures aimed to ensure unhindered implementation by Ukrainian citizens of the right to visa-free travel to the European Union.

This has been reported by the press service of the Head of State.

"Here, in Odesa, I will sign a decree on additional measures aimed to ensure unhindered implementation by Ukrainian citizens of the right to visa-free travel to the European Union," the Head of State said.

"Having gained visa waiver with hard work, we must make its implementation for citizens as comfortable as possible. It goes about significant improvement of public services that accompany Ukrainians throughout the European route - from their hometown to the destination country in the EU," Poroshenko emphasized.

He noted that two days ago in Lutsk, he held a meeting with diplomats, border guards, customs officers and heads of local administrations. "We analyzed, figuratively speaking, all the bottlenecks on our visa-free way to Europe. Following this meeting, I will sign a decree now, which clearly stipulates what must be done to prevent any obstacles on this way. I congratulate you on that," the President said.

The Head of State emphasized that due to the visa-free regime, Ukrainians will not have to stand in queues to consular or visa centers anymore; will not have to pay visa fees and spend money for services of intermediaries; will not have to spend time and money on bureaucratic work aimed to collect unnecessary papers. "Ukrainian biometric passport is the only thing necessary," he emphasized and reminded that 3.5 million Ukrainians have already received such passports.
