Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau met with President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) Paul Grod.

"I thanked Prime Minister Trudeau for the Government of Canada’s strong stand in support of Ukraine and Canada’s commitment to ensuring peace and security in eastern Europe. As Ukraine defends itself against Russia’s aggression, the extension of UNIFIER and the signing of the Defence Cooperation Arrangement are important concrete steps in enhancing Ukraine’s defence and security capacity," Grod said, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The parties discussed the recent extension of UNIFIER Canada’s military training mission in Ukraine, this week’s signing of the Canada-Ukraine Defence Cooperation Arrangement and Canada’s leadership role in advocating for Ukraine in the G7 and NATO.

Grod presented Prime Minister Trudeau with three traditional Ukrainian Easter eggs – Pysanky, crafted by Ukrainian Canadian artists –ahead of the Easter Holidays, as well as pysanka colouring sheets for the Prime Minister’s children.
