The Ukrainian president stated this in his speech during a graduation ceremony in Ivan Chernyakhovsky National Defense University of Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“My presence here is not a tribute to tradition. This means that for me as the President and the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the army was, is and will always be one of the first priorities," President Poroshenko stressed.
He also said that the war in eastern Ukraine and the Russian military threat require even more qualified personnel.
President Poroshenko added that thousands of students of this university at various times in the most difficult conditions have done and are doing everything possible to resume the fighting capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and to establish an appropriate system of command of troops.
