Five more countries (Montenegro, Albania, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Ukraine) have joined the EU’s decision to extend sanctions imposed on persons and institutions involved in the attacks on the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

This is said in the statement of EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, released on Monday.

"The Candidate Countries Albania and Montenegro, and the EFTA countries Liechtenstein and Norway, members of the European Economic Area, as well as Ukraine align themselves with this Council Decision," the statement reads.

As noted, these countries will ensure that their national policies conform to this Council Decision.

The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it, the statement says.
