The ceremony of signing took place today in Kyiv with the participation of Ukrainian First Deputy Foreign Minister Emine Dzhaparova, Deputy Information Policy Minister Artem Bidenko, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to Kuwait Volodymyr Tolkach, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kuwait to Ukraine Yousef Hussain Al-Gabandi, representatives of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and the Embassy of Kuwait, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
The agreement was signed by Deputy Director General of Ukrinform Maryna Synhayivska and Director General of KUNA Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij As-Sabah.
After the ceremony of signing, the director general of KUNA said that he was very glad to come to Ukraine, because "there is no doubt that the role of media is very important in the life of the two countries." According to him, today a new chapter in the cooperation has been opened and from now on the Kuwaiti national agency will receive reliable information about the current events in Ukraine.
"The signing of the Agreement will promote bilateral cooperation, enable us to receive news from original sources in Kuwait, as well as in Ukraine," Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij As-Sabah said and thanked Ukrainian Ambassador to Kuwait Volodymyr Tolkach for furtherance of signing this document.
The director general of KUNA also expressed hope that the signing of the Agreement will contribute to the implementation of practical steps and invited the management of Ukrinform to visit the Arab Media Forum that is to be held in Kuwait in October.
Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Emine Dzhaparova noted that over the last several years Ukraine became one of the main objects of attention in the region, which intensified even more after the annexation of Crimea by Russia. First Deputy Minister told about the situation in Crimea, in particular, about human rights violation, especial of the Crimean Tatars.
Deputy Director General of Ukrinform Maryna Synhayivska, in turn, noted that Ukrinform will celebrate its 100th anniversary soon and stressed that this Agreement will enable the Ukrainian national agency to inform Ukrainians on the current situation in Kuwait and to provide citizens of Kuwait with "firsthand" information about Ukraine.
