FM Klimkin participated in CTBTO meeting dedicated to signing of Comprehensive Test-Ban Treaty

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin took part in the ministerial meeting dedicated to the 20th anniversary of signing of the Comprehensive Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT), the Foreign Ministry’s press service reports.

“During the ministerial meeting held in Vienna on 13 June, 2016, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin stated about the important role and place of Ukraine in the process of facilitating the entry into force of the CTBT,” reads a report.

Special attention was paid to the practical contribution of Ukraine to the development of the CTBTO International Monitoring System, in particular the efficient operation of technologically advanced primary seismic station PS 45in in Malyn (Ukraine), which enables Ukraine to identify the precise location of nuclear explosion sources and register maximum amount of relevant sources.

In addition, the schedule of minister’s visit also included bilateral meetings with European and American partners, heads of the secretariats of international organizations.
