The majority of Ukrainian judges do not meet the requirements of the position they hold, because over 40% of them failed to pass the qualification assessment.

“The launched procedure of qualification assessment shows that a significant number of judges does not meet the requirements of the position they hold. Today we already have the statistics that over 40% of judges simply have failed to pass [the qualification assessment by] the Higher Qualification Commission and their candidacies have not been even submitted for consideration,” the President said.

Poroshenko also stressed that amendments to the Constitution will ensure that only worthy judges remain in the judicial system and new specialists be elected to other positions at open competitions.
