Safety is necessary condition for holding elections in the temporarily occupied areas of Donbas, so Russia should fulfill all its obligations under the Minsk agreements.
U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt said this to reporters after the meeting with students in Mariupol, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"As U.S. Permanent Representative to the UN Samantha Power said yesterday, safety in those areas is an absolutely necessary precondition for elections. This means that Russia should comply with its obligations under the Minsk agreements," the Ambassador said.
The American diplomat noted that "nobody talks about any specific dates."
