Today on March 2 in the Russian city of Donetsk, the debates of the sides kick off on the case of the Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko.

MP of Ukraine Nadiya Savchenko’s attorney Ilya Novikov told in his exclusive comments to Ukrinform.

"Prosecution will have the floor for the entire day on March 2. Savchenko’s lawyers will make speeches on Thursday. I will be the first attorney to make a speech. I will tell in detail as it’s possible about the events that occurred on June 17, 2014. I’ll explain why Nadiya is absolutely guiltless in the charges she faces," said Novikov.

The attorney’s clarification is important since it was previously reported that he will speak a day ahead of the schedule. Plenty of diplomats and journalists are expected to make appearances on March 3, the day of lawyers’ speeches and Savchenko’s closing speech in Donetsk city court in the Rostov region.

Recall that the Russian investigators accuse Savchenko under articles "murder" and "attempted murder." The Ukrainian servicewoman has pleaded not guilty. In fact, following her capture by the rebels he was dispatched to Russia. Nadiya Savchenko has been on hunger strike since December 18 after her arrest had been extended.
