No need for referendum on special status of Donbas – Groysman

The draft constitutional amendments do not provide for special status of certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, therefore it is not necessary to hold the referendum on this issue.

Speaker of Ukraine’s Parliament Volodymyr Groysman said this at the briefing on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Ukraine is the unitary country. The Constitution provides for no special statuses... Why should we raise this question? If the Constitution stipulated the special status of Donbas, it would be federalization. There are no such provisions, and so there is no need for such a question as it would mean manipulation," Groysman said.
