Russia's lost Ukraine, now Kyiv has to prevent destabilization - Stratfor (video)
US political scientist, director of Stratfor, an analytical and intelligence organization, George Friedman told in an interview with the Polish PAP news agency.
"The Russians've lost Ukraine. They failed to organize the uprising, they cause the American response to their actions, and this is the last thing they want," Friedman said.
According to him, the Russians will not be able to succeed by military means, besides the United States has begun to build up its forces in the region.
"To strengthen the position, we (the US - ed.) are going to be deploying forces in Poland, the Baltics, Romania," the expert said.
However, the analyst notes that Moscow's next move might be to destabilize the political situation in Ukraine by using political rather than military levers.
"If I were the Russians, my focus now would be on Kyiv, on how I could disrupt. And in the past it hasn't been difficult to disrupt. So the next round is really not a military round, the next round is a political round in Kyiv."
