Austrian transvestite wins Eurovision Song Contest, Ukraine in sixth place

Austrian transvestite singer Conchita Wurst, with a song "Rise like a Phoenix," has won the 59th Eurovision Song Contest, which was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, whereas Ukraine has taken sixth place.

KYIV, May 11 /Ukrinform/. Austrian transvestite singer Conchita Wurst, with a song "Rise like a Phoenix," has won the 59th Eurovision Song Contest, which was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, whereas Ukraine has taken sixth place.

The results were announced late on May 10, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.

The top five includes Austria (290 points), the Netherlands (238), Sweden (218), Armenia (174) and Hungary (143). Ukraine was represented in this year's contest by Maria Yaremchuk, with her song "Tick-Tock." She collected 113 points.

Russia took seventh place, with a result of 89 points. According to the results of the voting of Ukrainian viewers and the jury, eight points were given to Austria, ten to Armenia and 12 to Sweden.
