Ukrainian Parliament Speaker and interim President Oleksandr Turchynov said this in an interview with Channel 5.
"Russia is waging a war against our country, both in eastern and southern Ukraine. They are trying to destabilize the situation completely," Turchynov said.
"Let us be frank, it worked in the east, but in Odesa region they felt the real resistance of patriotic residents, and this attempt to destabilize the situation, both in Donetsk and Luhansk, to seize administrative buildings, create panic, in fact led only to a terrible tragedy - the loss of life," he said.
