Lithuanian FM Linkevicius: Russian terrorists use AK-100 submachine guns that not available in Ukraine
KYIV, April 14 /Ukrinform/. Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius claims that Moscow's role in the riots in the east of Ukraine is proved by confessions of detainees and weapons that the terrorists exploit, capturing administrative buildings with pro-Russian forces. According to him, in Ukraine's east they are armed with the latest Russian AK-100 assault rifles, which are not available in Ukraine.
The minister told this to the Lithuanian news portal Delfi after his phone call with Ukraine's acting Foreign Minister Andriy Deshchytsia.
"There is an increasing evidence of the involvement of Russia in the unrests, provocations, agitations, my colleague had promised to introduce them to the international community. There are detainees who participated in organizing the riots, they confessed that they are citizens of Russia. AK-100 submachine guns are found - they are used in Russia, in Ukraine there are none. Other evidences - the frequencies used by the groups and uniforms that were used in Crimea," Linkevicius said.
According to him, the actions of the Russians in eastern Ukraine have signs of terrorism, and Russia wants to prevent the presidential elections in Ukraine scheduled for May.
The Lithuanian minister also believes the decision to start a large-scale anti-terrorist operation in Ukraine is completely justified, because, in his words, "there is a slow occupation of the country."
