Party of Regions MP Levchenko says Ukraine needs federation

KYIV, August 1 /Ukrinform/. To overcome the problems associated with the split between the country's west and east, Ukraine needs federal form of government, Party of Regions MP Mykola Levchenko told Channel 5 on Wednesday.

"I assure you that Ukraine can't do without a federal form of government," he said.

Commenting on the polarity of opinions concerning the threat of neo-fascism in Ukraine related to Svoboda Party, he pointed out that Ukraine "will "never fully reconcile in these matters, and these two points of view are polar in Ukraine's west and east."

"We have to live each by our own rules and compete with each other. You live by your rules, but do not force us in the east and south to live by your rules. I'm not forcing you to accept our values," the lawmaker noted, addressing his opponent Svoboda MP Yuriy Mykhalchyshyn in the studio.
