APU to consolidate society around state support to farmers
. From now on, the Agrarian Party of Ukraine (APU) will unite and represent the interests of domestic farmers. At its congress, the party decided to consolidate the society around state support to farmers and implementation of the Native Village initiative for rural development.
This was stated by the APU leader, Ivan Bisiuk, AgroNews reported.
"We will act using cooperation with the Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food. Our idea involves the development of cooperation in the agricultural sector, creation of jobs in rural areas and amendments to the tax code," the politician said.
He noted that his political force is not going to go into opposition to the government. The strategic task of the party is increasing the participation of farmers in shaping up public policy. The main objective of the APU is creating the necessary conditions for a decent life of farmers who work directly on the ground.
At the 3rd congress of the Agrarian Party, it was also decided to take part in the parliamentary elections only in single-mandate constituencies. Such a decision is rational, given the high election threshold, Bisiuk said.
Thus, the Agrarian Party will be able to influence government decision-making at the level of regional administration, contributing to the development of local agricultural sector. 24 candidates were nominated from each region to participate in the elections.
