Case materials reveal Epstein's link with Putin providing compromising information on prominent figures
According to Ukrinform, citing The Standard, Putin's name appears on more than a thousand pages of the case, and Moscow is mentioned nearly 10,000 times.
Anonymous sources discuss a series of meetings between Epstein and Putin, as well as the possible use of Russian girls in a large-scale sexual blackmail operation allegedly organized by the Kremlin.
U.S. intelligence agencies believed that Epstein had long-standing ties with representatives of the Russian mafia, including organized crime leaders who may have been blackmailing him.
One document quotes the following exchange between two interlocutors: "You have Andrew, Bill Gates, Donald Trump, Bill Clinton and all the rest placed in compromising positions on an island bristling with technology. It's the world's largest honeytrap operation."
According to the documents, Epstein maintained contacts with Putin even after his 2008 conviction for soliciting minors for prostitution.
The disclosed emails contain excerpts regarding Epstein's plans to visit Russia and arrangements with Putin. In an email dated September 11, 2011, an anonymous intermediary wrote to Epstein: "Spoke with Igor. He said last time you were in Palm Beach, you told him you had an appointment with Putin on Sept 16 and that he could go ahead and book his ticket to Russia to arrive a few days before you."
Another email from 2014, sent by Japanese entrepreneur Joi Ito, references a possible meeting between Epstein and Putin: "Hey Jeffrey, I wasn't able to convince Reid [Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn] to change his schedule to go meet Putin with you."
The correspondence goes on to say that the planned meeting was canceled after the MH17 disaster, when Russian forces shot down a passenger plane over Ukraine.
The documents also point to Epstein's activity in Russia, including his interest in obtaining a Russian visa in November 2010.
FBI documents note that the sex offender was in close contact with former leader of Putin's youth movement, Masha Drokova, whose entrepreneurial projects in Silicon Valley raised suspicions of technology theft.
In addition, it is stated that Epstein was close to former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and "trained as a spy under him."
As Ukrinform previously reported, earlier released materials from the Epstein case included a fragment of a 2018 conversation in which he claimed he could help Russian diplomats better understand Donald Trump, who was serving his first term as president at the time.
