Seven police officers injured: Explosion in Mykolaiv classified as terrorist attack
The Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office stated this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
"Under the procedural guidance of the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated into a terrorist act that caused grave consequences (Part 2, Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the statement reads.
It is noted that today at 18:10 in the city of Mykolaiv, an improvised explosive device detonated on the premises of a non-operational gas station located near the administrative building of the Patrol Police Department in the Mykolaiv region.
At that time, patrol police officers who had arrived for a shift change were on the gas station's premises. As a result of the explosion, seven police officers were injured, one of them in serious condition.
An investigative task force is working at the scene. The circumstances of the incident are being established.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine in the Mykolaiv region.
As previously reported, seven police officers were injured as a result of the explosion at a gas station in Mykolaiv, two of them in serious condition.
