Car accident in Poland kills five Ukrainians – media

According to Onet, the spokesperson of the District Prosecutor's Office in Opole, Stanislaw Bar, stated this, Ukrinform reports.

The tragic accident occurred near the city of Brzeg in Opole Voivodeship on Tuesday, December 23, at the intersection of two national roads. For unknown reasons, a head-on collision occurred between a Ford Kuga, driven by a 59-year-old local resident, and a Volkswagen Passat. All six occupants of the vehicles died in the crash: the driver of the Ford and five passengers of the Volkswagen, which caught fire as a result of the collision.

Bar stated that preliminary information indicates the passengers of the burned vehicle were Ukrainian citizens. DNA analysis will be required to confirm this, with a forensic examination scheduled for Monday, December 29.

As Ukrinform previously reported, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on social media on Saturday that European and Canadian leaders are convinced that the key issue is concrete and reliable security guarantees for Ukraine.
