Police open criminal case over attack on MP Nayyem

Kyiv police have opened a criminal case on charges of hooliganism due to an attack on Ukrainian MP Mustafa Nayyem. 

According to a report published by the media liaisons office of the Kyiv police, three persons were detained as part of this case.

"Police officers established that the victim was moving in his own car towards Bessarabska Square. A Mercedes cut in front of his car, and a quarrel began. At this moment a BMW drove up to them. During the conflict, a stranger punched the people's deputy in the face. The offenders fled the scene," the police said.

Law enforcers found the wanted car and detained three people. One more person who beat Nayyem is being searched.

Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism) foresees up to four years of imprisonment.

On April 30, Bloc of Petro Poroshenko MP Mustafa Nayyem was attacked by unidentified persons. The incident occurred in the center of Kyiv as a result of a road conflict. The deputy was taken to hospital.
