Klitschko brothers condole over Corrie Sanders death
KYIV, September 24 /UKRINFORM/. Ukrainian boxers Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko have delivered their condolences over a tragic death of their former opponent Corrie Sanders, who was shot after an armed robbery in Brits, RSA, the official website of the Klitschko brothers fan club reports.
"We were shocked to learn of the sudden death of Corrie Sanders, and we want to express our sincere condolences to his family. Corrie will be remembered as a great man, both in the ring and outside it. He was a great fighter with a big heart, who always represented boxing in a positive way," reads a condolence message.
As reported, former heavyweight world boxing champion Corrie Sanders has died after being shot during an armed robbery. The 46-year-old was attending a family celebration at a restaurant near Pretoria in his native South Africa. He died in hospital.
Corrie Sanders in 2003 beat Wladimir Klitschko in a battle for the WBO heavyweight title by technical knockout (it was the 6th defense for the Ukrainian). The battle lasted for two rounds.
A year later, Vitali Klitschko took revenge for his brother, defeating the South African in a bout for the vacant WBC title by technical knockout in the eighth round.
