The election of the President of Ukraine officially ended with the closure of the voting station in San Francisco (California, USA).

The voter turnout at this voting station, covering 12 U.S. states, was low. According to preliminary data, only 395 voters came.

According to preliminary estimates, in Washington D.C., where 7,173 voters were registered, 452 people exercised their voting rights. Thus, the turnout in the American capital was 6.3%.

In New York, where 11,651 voters were registered, only 1,260 people arrived at the polling station, accounting for 10.8%.

In Chicago, 891 people from about 5,500 registered voted. The turnout in this city was 16.4%.

In San Francisco, where the largest number of Ukrainian voters in the overseas electoral district (23,636 citizens) was registered, the turnout was the lowest in the United States. According to preliminary data, which an Ukrinform correspondent found out by phone, 395 people voted at the polling station.

As reported, all four voting stations in the United States are located in the premises of the embassy and consular departments of Ukraine and cover all 50 U.S. states as well as Antigua and Barbuda, Trinidad and Tobago.

The low turnout in the United States is explained, in particular, by the great distances that Ukrainian voters from different states have to travel in order to exercise their voting rights.
