Interior Minister Arsen Avakov held a meeting with international observers from the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) and the National Democratic Institute (NDI) for the March 31 presidential elections in Ukraine, according to the Interior Ministry’s press service.

"The Interior Ministry’s principled position on neutrality towards all candidates for the President of Ukraine, regardless of their pro-government or opposition viewpoints, is unusual for the Ukrainian reality and causes some nervousness among the candidates. Interior Minister Arsen Avakov stated this on March 28 at the meeting with representatives of the National Democratic Institute and the Ukrainian World Congress, whose mission in the Ukrainian elections is the second in terms of the number of observers after the OSCE. They include 296 short-term observers,” the statement says.

During the meeting, the Ukrainian interior minister assured the international partners that the electoral process would be thoroughly monitored and represented the new information-analytical system "Election-2019”.

At the same time, Avakov didn’t rule out possible destabilization of the situation after the announcement of election results.
