EU not going to create separate election monitoring mission for Ukraine

Ukrinform
The European Union is not planning to create a separate election monitoring mission for Ukraine as it relies on the conclusions of OSCE observers.

An EU spokesperson stated this on Friday in the context of the upcoming meeting of EU foreign ministers to be held on February 18, an Ukrinform correspondent said.

The European Union is not considering sending a separate monitoring mission for elections in Ukraine. Usually, we don't do this for countries that are members of the OSCE, and we will take into account the findings of observers from this organization. These elections are important, especially in the context of the continuation of the reform process, the spokesperson said.

According to him, the EU pays great attention to reforms in Ukraine, which has made great progress on this path, but there is still a lot of things to be done. The key areas in which Ukraine should continue to make consistent changes include public finance, the banking sector, fiscal reform, reform of the judicial system and courts, which should become more independent and effective, the EU spokesperson said.
