Zelensky: Only Europe is providing funding for Ukraine now
He made the remarks during a briefing in Munich on Saturday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"First of all, today it is only Europe that is spending money on Ukraine. Let's be honest – our partners from Canada are helping, Japan is providing humanitarian support, but most of the funding comes exclusively from Europe," Zelensky said.
At the same time, he noted that Europe is largely absent from the peace negotiations.
"So far, unfortunately, Europe is not very present in the negotiations. […] By the way, Russia also does not really see Europe at the negotiating table. But this is unfair, because security guarantees from Europe are important for us," Zelensky said.
On February 11, the European Parliament adopted, under an urgent procedure, a package of proposals aimed at supporting Ukraine, including the provision of an EU loan of EUR 90 billion for 2026-2027.
Of this amount, EUR 30 billion will be allocated for macro-financial assistance or budget support to be provided through the EU's Ukraine Facility, while EUR 60 billion will go toward strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities and supporting the procurement of military equipment.
