Ukraine receives more than 38 tonnes of energy equipment in one week from five countries – Shmyhal
According to Ukrinform, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal stated this on Facebook following a meeting of the Energy Headquarters.
He noted that generators, transformers, cogeneration units, and other equipment are already en route from Lithuania, Austria, Poland, Finland, France, Azerbaijan, and the Netherlands, as well as from the European Union and the organizations UNDP and UNICEF/WASH.
From the Ministry of Energy's hubs, nearly 342 tonnes of aid have been delivered to electricity distribution system operators, heat and power generation enterprises, oil and gas companies, and local governments.
Shmyhal also reported that in Kyiv, 63 crews are working to restore power grids, while more than 220 crews are engaged in restoring heat supply, including teams from Ukrzaliznytsia and energy workers from various regions. Naftogaz is ready to further reinforce the capital with an additional 40 specialist teams.
In the Kyiv Region, additional cogeneration units were launched today.
"These are real steps toward the energy independence of our communities. In addition, agreements have already been reached with partners on the supply of additional units," he said, emphasizing that the number one task is to secure as much additional generation as possible.
As Ukrinform previously reported, on January 14 President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that an emergency regime would be introduced in Ukraine's energy sector.
Denys Shmyhal, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, was appointed head of efforts to eliminate the consequences of the emergency.
