Italy allocates EUR 1M to strengthen Ukraine's cybersecurity

Ukrinform
As part of its accession to the Tallinn Mechanism, Italy has allocated EUR 1 million to strengthen Ukraine's cyber domain.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine said this in a press release seen by Ukrinform.

"Italy has allocated EUR 1 million to strengthen Ukraine's cyber domain. About EUR 900,000 will be directed toward protecting the Ternopil region, while another EUR 100,000 will support the Tallinn Mechanism Project Office," the statement said.

The ministry's press service said that cooperation with Italy would enable the implementation of two cybersecurity projects in the Ternopil region: infrastructure upgrades (the region will receive modern network and server equipment) and the development of a secure network (a network will be built using automated security tools, including EDR systems, and personnel will be trained to respond instantly to complex threats).

Part of Italy's contribution will be used to support the work of the Tallinn Mechanism Project Office. This will help attract more international initiatives to protect Ukraine's digital ecosystem. Funding will also be provided for the annual review of the national cybersecurity system conducted by the National Cyber Security Coordination Center (NCSCC) under Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, enabling clearer identification of risks and their professional mitigation.

As reported, Italy joined the Tallinn Mechanism in 2024. During the Ukraine Recovery Conference held in Rome in July 2025, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani signed a declaration of intent on developing long-term initiatives to build cyber capabilities and strengthen Ukraine's digital infrastructure.
