Zelensky, Georgieva discuss new Ukraine support program

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva discussed the IMF's support program for 2026-2029 during a meeting in Kyiv.

According to Ukrinform, Zelensky said this in a post on Telegram.

"During a meeting with Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, I thanked her for the attention to Ukraine and for the programs that help strengthen our economy and resilience. This is especially important now, when Russian strikes and severe winter weather are creating serious challenges," he said.

Zelensky informed Georgieva about Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy sector, critical infrastructure and residential buildings.

Both sides also discussed the preparation of a new program that will provide expanded financing for 2026–2029.

"We appreciate the IMF's readiness to continue supporting Ukraine and to make efforts toward the implementation of the new financing program," Zelensky added.
