Consumers in five Ukrainian regions remained without electricity due to Russian attacks as of the morning of December 26, with emergency power outages being applied in some regions.

Ukraine's power grid operator Ukrenergo announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

As a result of Russian attacks, consumers are without power in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions. Power engineers are doing everything possible to restore all damaged equipment as quickly as possible. In most regions, scheduled power outage timetables are in effect.

"Due to the difficult situation in the power system, emergency electricity outages have currently been applied in certain regions. The hourly outage schedules previously published by regional power distribution companies in these regions are temporarily not in effect. Emergency outages will be canceled immediately after the situation stabilizes," the statement said.

Electricity consumption as of 09:30 was 10.9% higher than the previous day. This is due to fewer restrictions being applied in some regions compared to December 25.

"In regions where hourly outages are in effect today, there remains a need for prudent electricity consumption. Please limit the use of high-power electrical appliances as much as possible. If possible, shift energy-intensive activities to nighttime hours, after 23:00," Ukrenergo said.

Earlier reports said that Russian forces attacked energy infrastructure in southern Odesa region overnight.
