European-gauge rail to Poland: Lviv reveals details of Sknyliv–Mostyska project
This was reported by the Lviv Regional State Administration, Ukrinform notes.
The project provides for the reconstruction of the existing 1520 mm railway track into the 1435 mm European gauge, reconstruction of engineering structures, renewal of the overhead contact network, construction of a new station, and modernization of railway crossings.
It is also noted that once the work is completed, the throughput capacity will increase from 42 to 52 train pairs per day.

“Implementation of the project will allow us to introduce the European standard for passenger and freight transportation, create fast and direct connections between Ukraine and EU member states, and ensure the formation of freight flows with EU countries without the need for transshipment. It will also help deepen socio-economic ties between Ukraine and the European Union,” said Yurii Buchko, Deputy Head of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
As reported, the total project cost exceeds 10 billion hryvnias. The work will be financed by grant funds, the state budget, and Ukrainian Railways’ own resources.
Earlier, Ukraine received €73.7 million from the EU to support construction of the Sknyliv–Mostyska European-gauge line.
