IAEA Director General arrives in Ukraine

“Began my 12th visit to Ukraine since February 2022, reaffirming IAEA’s support for the country,” Grossi wrote.
He also met with Energy Minister German Galushchenko.
“Shared with Minister Galushchenko how we’ll help Ukraine rebuild its energy infrastructure, including new units at the Khmelnytsky NPP, Chornobyl repairs and substation assessment,” Grossi added.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, on May 27, the international non-governmental environmental organization Greenpeace stated that the Russian occupation administration had begun construction of a new high-voltage overhead power transmission line in the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions. The power line, being laid along the northern coast of the Sea of Azov, is to directly connect the occupied ZNPP with the Russian grid. As of May 23, 2025, some 90 km of the line have been laid, with supports installed. Construction work is ongoing.
The Permanent Mission of Ukraine to International Organizations in Vienna sent a verbal note to the IAEA Secretariat, condemning the obvious intentions of the Russian Federation to connect the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP to the Russian power system and arbitrarily resume operation of the NPP.
