Ukraine and Slovakia to speed up reconstruction of electric interconnector between countries

Ukraine and Slovakia are deepening their cooperation in the energy sector, in particular, they will speed up the reconstruction of the Mukachevo-Velke Kapusany interconnector.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this at a briefing in Uzhhorod, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"This heating season, there were days when Slovakia provided emergency support to Ukraine's energy system. We want to continue our work. We agreed to speed up the reconstruction of the Mukachevo-Velke Kapusany interconnector. This will make our energy system more sustainable," Shmyhal said.

He emphasized that Ukraine and Slovakia will build mutually beneficial relations based on pragmatism. In particular, there is a unique potential for this in the energy sector.

As reported by Ukrinform, on January 24, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico in Uzhhorod to discuss further cooperation between the two countries.
