Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko has invited U.S. companies to cooperate in building up Ukraine's renewable energy capacity.

That's according to the Ukrainian Energy Ministry's press service, Ukrinform reports.

According to the statement, as part of a working trip to Seattle, Galushchenko took part in a round table discussion with representatives of the Business Council for International Understanding and leading U.S. companies.

During the meeting, Galushchenko said that in order to strengthen the resilience and stability of the energy system, Ukraine is moving toward the decentralization of generation. The tools for achieving the respective goals are the expansion of renewable energy capacity, particularly solar and wind generation, as well as the use of gas turbines. An important direction is also the implementation of energy storage technologies, which will allow the integration of more sources of renewable energy into the Ukrainian energy system.

Galushchenko added that Ukraine needs high-voltage equipment, which was largely damaged by Russian shelling, emphasizing the potential for the production of such equipment in Ukraine.

He also emphasized the prospects for cooperation in the field of gas production, gas storage facilities, the development of hydrogen technologies, small modular reactors, smart networks and invited U.S. companies to cooperate in the relevant areas.
