Finnish Gasum terminates gas contract with Russian Gazprom

Ukrinform
Finnish state-owned company Gasum said on Monday that it had terminated a contract to buy natural gas from Russia's Gazprom Export through Russia's gas pipelines.

Reuters reported this, Ukrinform states.

Gazprom stopped supplying natural gas through the pipeline to Gasum in May 2022 due to a dispute over payments. Both parties have been negotiating to resolve the issue.

Gazprom demanded that European countries pay for Russian gas supplies in rubles because of the sanctions imposed over Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Finland refused to do so.

As Ukrinform reported, Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that the country no longer uses Russian natural gas or electricity after it stopped its dependence following the outbreak of Russia's full-scale war in Ukraine.
