The Minister of Lands, Infrastructure and Transport of South Korea Won Hee-ryong is off to Poland, where he will meet with Ukraine’s officials to discuss the projects of the nation’s post-war reconstruction.

This is reported by Yonhap with reference to the Korean minister’s office, Ukrinform saw.

During his three-day stay in Poland, Won intends to meet with local and Ukrainian high-ranking officials and discuss South Korea's envisioned participation in projects to rebuild Ukraine after the war with Russia.

The minister is scheduled to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, which will provide for the sharing of know-how and development platforms for a "smart city" by South Korea. They include an IT-based urban traffic network and advanced industrial complexes.

According to the report, the Ukrainian side expressed high expectations regarding the participation of South Korean companies in various recovery projects, including the construction of new nuclear reactors and infrastructure for hydrogen production and electricity generation.

In February, South Korea announced plans to provide $130 million in aid to Ukraine in addition to last year's $100 million. And last week, Finance Minister Choo Kyung-ho signed a preliminary agreement with Ukraine on the provision of low-interest loans within the framework of the Economic Development Cooperation project.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on May 21, South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol vowed additional non-lethal aid for Ukraine during the first ever meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Hiroshima.
