Energy infrastructure facilities hit in night attack - Ministry of Energy

As a result of Russia's nighttime massive shelling, energy infrastructure facilities were hit. More than 20 settlements were left without power.

According to Ukrinform, Ukraine’s Energy Ministry reported this on Telegram.

"At night, Russia launched another massive missile and drone strike across Ukraine. There were hits and damage to energy infrastructure facilities. Overhead power lines in Khmelnytskyi region were disconnected due to the shelling. Three settlements in the region are without power, leaving 1,700 consumers without electricity," the statement said.

It is noted that as a result of the latest massive shelling, 2 settlements in Zaporizhzhia region and 3 settlements in Mykolaiv region were cut off from electricity. In Kherson region, 15 settlements were cut off, leaving almost 12,000 consumers without electricity. All of them have been supplied with power now.

Several overhead lines were also disconnected in Donetsk region. Five settlements and more than 20,000 customers were left without power. A mine where several people were working at the time was cut off.

As a result of previous shelling, some consumers in Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv regions are without power.

Power engineers continue to restore power supply where the security situation allows. In total, over 32,000 consumers have been restored to electricity supply over the past day.

Also last night, an interstate power line with Hungary was disconnected. The damage was found in Hungary and is being repaired.

As reported, Ukraine's defense forces destroyed 29 of the 30 Russian cruise missiles that the enemy launched at Ukraine from 21:00 on May 17 to 5:30 on May 18.
