Ukraine expects to receive the first tranche of almost $10 billion in direct budget aid from the United States as soon as possible as an important element of the country’s financial stability.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal spoke of this at a government meeting on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We also count on receiving the first tranche of the announced budget aid of almost $10 billion as soon as possible. This is an important element of our financial stability. Thanks to the leadership of our American partners, the European Commission, and G7, we managed to launch a new format of cooperation – the Multidonor Financial Coordination Platform (the so-called ‘financial Ramstein’). The key goals of the meetings in this format include assistance to Ukraine in financing the budget deficit, the start of implementation of the reconstruction program already this year, confiscation and utilization of frozen Russian assets, etc., Shmyhal said.
