Agricultural producers are now sowing winter grain crops all over Ukraine. As of October 3, 2022, more than 1.2 million hectares (or 26% of the projected area) were sown with such crops.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

In particular, a total of 1.1 million hectares (27% of the projected area) were sown with wheat, 96 thousand hectares (14%) – with barley, and 35 thousand hectares (41%) – with rye.

Over the past week, Ukrainian farmers have sown 516 thousand hectares with grain-grade winter crops.

Most winter grain crop plantations were recorded in the Ternopil region (32 thousand hectares, or 41% of the projected area).

Meanwhile, the sowing of winter rapeseed was completed across all regions of Ukraine. A total of 989 thousand hectares were sown with winter rapeseed, including 28 thousand hectares last week.

According to the pessimistic forecast, the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry expects that the country’s winter wheat, rye and barley plantations will reduce by 20% this year, but winter rapeseed plantations will remain unchanged compared to last year.
