The European Union has disbursed a new tranche of EUR 600 million to Ukraine and is working on a procedure to provide an additional EUR 9 billion loan by the end of this year.

According to Ukrinform, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wrote this on her Twitter account.

"Today, we disbursed a new tranche of €600 million in Macro-Financial Assistance to Ukraine. More is coming - we proposed an additional €9 billion loan for Ukraine in 2022. Beyond relief, we'll work on a reconstruction platform to help rebuild Ukraine as a free, democratic country," she said.

The European Commission on May 19 announced proposals to grant Ukraine EUR 9 billion in macro-financial assistance to maintain financial stability in the country suffering from Russian aggression. The European Commission has also made a proposal to create an international platform to attract investment in Ukraine's post-war reconstruction efforts from the EU, its international partners and international financial institutions.
