Ukraine continues to accurately meet its debt obligations and has established the Public Debt Service and Repayment Fund.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Ukraine has always accurately fulfilled its obligations. It is the image of the state. On March 1, 2022, the Ukrainian Finance Ministry made a coupon payment of $292 million under Eurobonds. The next big payment will be in September. Hence, there is no reason to start talking of writing the debts off,” Shmyhal told.

In his words, the trust of foreign creditors is important to Ukraine.

“We want to borrow funds, receive grants, have stable relations with our foreign partners. Thus, we must be responsible,” Shmyhal explained.

According to Shmyhal, Ukraine has established the Public Debt Service and Repayment Fund.

“Today Ukraine and Ukrainians are defending not only themselves but the entire civilized world. Hence, we expect everyone to understand the situation and refill the fund,” Shmyhal added.

The Ukrainian government is holding talks with European and American partners, other countries and international organizations, as well as the corporate sector, to provide support for Ukraine.

“As for countries, our work provides for several stages. Firstly, it is the replenishment of the state budget. Secondly, it is global support for macrofinancial stabilization. Thirdly, it is part of the future, Ukraine’s recovery fund,” Shmyhal noted.

A reminder that, on February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, starting a war. Russian troops are shelling and destroying the key infrastructure facilities, launching missile and air strikes on Ukrainian cities and villages, killing civilians.
