Average salary on 20% rise in Ukraine y-o-y - economy ministry

In November 2021, the average nominal salary in Ukraine stood at UAH 14,300, which is 2.4 times the minimum wage.

It increased by 19.2% against November 2020, while real wages were up 8%. Compared to October, the average salary in November rose by 1.7%, the Ministry of Economy reports.

“Despite the introduction of additional quarantine restrictions due to COVID-19, which was seen in many regions of the country in November, the salaries of Ukrainians have been rising. This shows that businesses have sufficiently adapted to operating amid the pandemic. In addition, a significant factor in wage rise still is the increase in the minimum wage, which rose to UAH 6,000 from January this year and by another UAH 500 from December 1,” First Deputy Minister of Economy Denys Kudin said, commenting on the latest stats.

According to the State Statistics Service, a positive trend in wage growth against November 2020 was observed in all types of economic activity.

The highest rates are observed in the fields of temporary accommodation and catering (39.4%), agriculture, forestry and fisheries (30.6%), information and telecommunications (28.8%), arts, sports, entertainment, and recreation (25.8%), as well as education (24.6%).

The average salary has also increased across all of the country’s regions.

The largest growth took place in Sumy (22.1%), Kyiv (21.2%), and Vinnytsia (21.1%) regions.

In general, the highest level of wages in November was observed for employees in the field of information and telecommunications (UAH 27,100), finance and insurance (UAH 23,400), public administration and defense; compulsory social insurance (UAH 19,900), and professional, scientific and technical activities (UAH 19,100).

The highest-paying jobs statistically were reported in the city of Kyiv (an average of UAH 21,100), Donetsk region (UAH 14,800), Kyiv region (UAH 14,800), Dnipropetrovsk region (UAH 13,900), and Zaporizhia region (UAH 13,800).
