Ukraine views the Energy Community presidency as a tool to strengthen the energy security of the entire European continent.

"Ukraine has taken over the Energy Community presidency. We will use this tool to strengthen the energy security of both Ukraine and the entire European continent," Energy Minister of Ukraine German Galushchenko said during a meeting with the Energy Community leadership, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reports.

According to him, Ukraine already put forward a Regional Energy Security Partnership (RESP) initiative to enhance the security of energy supplies.

"This is the path towards a more secure future in the context of energy supplies. We want to make sure that the current situation with gas in Europe does not happen again," Galushchenko said.

He also added that during its presidency, Ukraine will continue to promote the integration of the electricity and gas markets of the contracting parties of the Energy Community into the European Union markets.

Ukraine took over the Energy Community presidency at the 19th meeting of the Energy Community Ministerial Council on November 30.
