Ukraine is interested in increasing trade and economic cooperation with the United States, its largest strategic partner.

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov said this at the IX Ukrainian-American Forum, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Ukrainian parliament’s press service.

According to Razumkov, there is still a lot of potential for bilateral partnership between the two countries. For example, last year the foreign trade turnover of goods and services between Ukraine and the United States decreased compared to 2019, which should be improved by joint and coordinated efforts of both parties.

"It is important to attract investments, including American investments. After all, they contribute to job creation and help to overcome challenges facing the state. We understand that predictable tax legislation and ensuring the rule of law in the state are key to attracting investors. For its part, the parliament is ready for a constructive dialogue with business," the Ukrainian speaker said.

He also said that it is important to develop humanitarian and scientific cooperation, noting that the Verkhovna Rada passed a law ratifying the Agreement between the Ukrainian government and the U.S. government on continued cooperation in science and technology. This document expands the opportunities of Ukrainian scientists for integration into the international scientific sector.

Razumkov added that Ukraine deserves strong geopolitical support from the United States, because the development of a successful and strong Ukraine is now a guarantee of security and peace in the region and the world.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law "On Ratification of the Agreement (in the Form of Exchange of Notes) between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the United States of America on the Extension of the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the United States of America on Cooperation in Science and Technology” (No.0100).
